------Problem Overview
The actual fabric width fails to comply with order requirements. The width varies unevenly within one roll or between different rolls. This defect will cause inaccurate layout during cutting, garment dimension deviation and material waste.

------The actual width of the fabric does not match the order, and it varies between wide and narrow. What are the main causes of this problem?
1) Weaving of Grey Fabric
1. Unstable loom parameters, inconsistent tension on both sides and fluctuating take-up system lead to uneven original width.
2. Deformed reed and heald frames cause uneven weft shrinkage.
3. Uneven yarn specifications result in different shrinkage rates.
4. Random adjustment of loom speed and tension during production changes fabric width.
2) Pre-treatment
1. Asymmetric stretching tension during desizing, scouring, bleaching and mercerization.
2. Malfunction of fabric spreader and guide device causes fabric deviation and compression.
3. Fluctuated temperature and humidity lead to inconsistent fabric shrinkage.
3) Dyeing Process
1. Unstable tension inside dyeing machines causes irregular weft shrinkage.
2. Different fabric loading quantity and running speed result in width deviation between rolls.
3. Fabric stacking and extrusion in the vat narrow the fabric width.
4) Finishing & Stenter Process (Key Cause)
1. Asynchronous chains on both sides of stenter create uneven width.
2. Uneven pulling force of clamps on two sides.
3. Random change of overfeed rate and operating parameters.
4. Temperature difference inside oven leads to different thermal shrinkage.
5. Off-centre feeding causes unilateral stretching and permanent width deviation.
6. Excessive pressure of padding rollers compresses the fabric.
5) Production & Operation Management
1. Fabric width is not set according to order standard before production.
2. No re-measurement of width after roll change or shift change.
3. Bulk production scattered on different machines with inconsistent parameters.
4. Uneven rolling tension deforms finished fabric.
6) Material Properties Elastic fabric, knitted fabric and chemical fiber fabric have high shrinkage rate. Cotton, linen and wool fabrics are sensitive to temperature and humidity, prone to width shrinkage.
------The actual width of the fabric does not match the order, and it varies between wide and narrow. How can this problem be solved?
1) Control Grey Fabric Quality
1. Maintain looms, reeds and tension system regularly, keep consistent tension on both sides.
2. Use yarn of the same batch and specification for the same order.
3. Fix loom parameters strictly; inspect fabric width roll by roll before delivery.
2) Standardize Pre-treatment & Dyeing
1. Calibrate fabric guide and centering devices to ensure centered running.
2. Unify fabric loading quantity, speed and tension; arrange production on the same machine.
3. Reduce loading capacity for wide fabric to avoid extrusion in the vat.
3) Optimize Stenter & Setting Process
1. Calibrate chains and clamps to guarantee synchronous operation and uniform pulling force.
2. Set fabric width, overfeed rate, speed and temperature according to order requirements; forbid arbitrary parameter adjustment.
3. Repair heating system to eliminate oven temperature difference.
4. Keep fabric feeding centered with deviation correction device.
4) Strengthen On-site Inspection
1. Conduct first article inspection before mass production every shift.
2. Sampling test fabric width regularly during production.
3. Arrange production on fixed machines for the same order.
4. Keep uniform rolling tension for finished goods.
5) Finished Goods Sorting & Remedy
1. Classify fabrics by actual width; separate unqualified rolls.
2. Avoid uneven width areas during cutting; use defective fabric for small pieces.
3. Recalibrate width via low-temperature re-stretching for minor deviation. Severely defective products shall be downgraded.
